IAF Oceania Conference 2026 · Facilitation in Action

🎲 Facilitation Games Night

Forget the standard conference networking. This is a room full of facilitators let loose on seven of the best games, activities and experiences in the business — part play, part learning, entirely unforgettable.

Wednesday 14 October · 6:15pm – 9:00pm 7 experiences on offer Included with your conference ticket

No room for boredom

Facilitation Games Night is the evening we set aside for pure energy: a room full of games, tools and experiences that facilitators use to build trust, spark creativity and get groups moving - the same ones you'll want to steal for your own practice. Wander between tables, jump in wherever looks interesting, and leave with a toolkit (and a few new friends) you didn't have when you walked in.

Anyone Can Learn to Innovate

Grant Leibbrandt

Pitch a product, race the clock, and watch a table full of facilitators turn instantly competitive. The Start-Up Game is a hands-on innovation simulation that makes the messy, iterative reality of building something new feel obvious in hindsight — and ridiculously fun in the moment. Expect fist-pumps, friendly rivalry, and a few ideas you'll want to take home.

Purpose-driven play

Helping Hands

Sue Langley

Most team activities end when the timer stops. This one ends with someone, somewhere, receiving a prosthetic hand your table built with their own two hands. Working in small teams, you'll assemble a real, functioning prosthetic hand — including a stretch where you try using only your non-dominant hand, just to feel a fraction of what daily life is like for an amputee. You'll decorate a carry case, write a letter to the recipient, and take a group photo to send along with the donation. Every hand goes to someone who needs it, 100% free, thanks to the program's corporate partners.

What's involved
  • Assembling a real prosthetic hand — one-handed
  • Decorating a carry case for the hand
  • Writing a letter to the recipient
  • A group photo to send with the donation
What you'll take away
  • A firsthand sense of purpose-driven facilitation
  • Real insight into designing for empathy and inclusion
  • A concrete, shareable example of "meaning over metrics"
Community & connection

Camp Venture

Dimitrios Papalexis · Soulgen

Camp Venture turns community development into a shared adventure. Teams take on quests that mirror real-world challenges — communicating, collaborating and problem-solving their way from silos and deficits toward creativity and collective action. It's playful on the surface and genuinely purposeful underneath, the same combination that makes it a favourite in Soulgen's work with communities and organisations across Australia.
